आमच्याविषयी
Leamington Marathi is a social and cultural group for Marathi families living in and around Leamington Spa and Warwick. Most of us came here from Maharashtra for work or study and stayed on. Over the years the group has become a second home for many of us.
महाराष्ट्रातून इथे आलेली आम्ही सगळी मराठी कुटुंबं. सण, गप्पा, जेवण आणि अडीअडचणीला एकमेकांची मदत, यासाठी आम्ही एकत्र येतो.
There are more than 400 families in the group now, and new families join every month. We celebrate our festivals together, keep Marathi alive for our children, and help each other out when needed.
We are a non-profit group run by volunteers. Nobody is paid. We are in the process of registering as a charity (a CIO).
Our festivals, food, music and language, celebrated here the way we grew up with them.

How the group came together.
A handful of Marathi families in Leamington and Warwick got to know each other and started meeting up. It began with chaha and gappa in each other's homes.
We celebrated Ganeshotsav at Shree Krishna Mandir and held our first Diwali Bhet. Hundreds of people came. That is when we knew Leamington needed its own Marathi mandal.
The drums came from India, weekend practice started in a local hall, and the pathak played in public for the first time.
More than 280 people came to Shivrajyotsav, and the pathak led the town's Diwali lights switch on in front of a crowd of 700 or more. The group crossed 400 families.
Our pathak went to London to play with 13 pathaks and 270 players from across the UK. The performance was entered in the World Book of Records. आमच्या सगळ्यांसाठी अभिमानाचा दिवस.

Our own Dhol Tasha group, started in 2024. Some of us played back in Maharashtra and some picked it up here. We play at the Ganesh procession, at the town's Diwali lights switch on, and at community events around Warwickshire.
